Parallel lines are lines in the same plane that never meet. Two lines are parallel to each other when their slopes are equal.
If two lines y
1
= m
1
x
1
+ c and y
2
= m
2
x
2
+ c are parallel, then m
1
= m
2
because m
1
and m
2
represent the slopes of the two lines.
For example, 6y = 3x + 30 and 2y = x + 4 are parallel lines with slope of 1/2.
