The ratio of any two corresponding lengths in two similar geometric figures is called as Scale Factor.
E.g. Find the scale factor if two rectangles 24cm by 12 cm and 20 cm by 10 cm are similar.
Solution:
Dimension of larger rectangle × scale factor = dimension of smaller rectangle
24 x scale factor = 20
Scale factor = 20/24 = 5/6
