My calc is in radian mode. To find COT x/2, I press 2ND-TAN (.25 PI / 2) and get .3741 when I am supposed to get 2.4. In fact, I a getting ALL of my COT, SEC, AND CSC wrong. Until I get my calculator question answered,I am stuck in the course. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi
If i were you; i would go ahead; and find the value of tan x/2 and use the key "1/x" to find the value desired. As known; cot x = 1/tan x
Taking the question above; to find the value of Cot x/2. Firstly i will solve tan (.25PI/2)
As the value of PI = 180; so .25*180/2 = 22.5 Degrees.
Finding the Tan on that value gives = 0.4142 Now use 1/x function gives me the desired result 2.4
Special Note: While solving the question above PI=180 degree and NOT 3.141
Let me know if you have any other question.

Adding more to the above answer:
If you press 2nd and then press tan it will give you answer of tan^-1(x) not the 1/tan x which is equal to cot x
For clarification let us take this example:
If tan x = 1 so you have to find for which value of x, tan x will be 1 so here the answer will be given by
if tan x = 1
then x = tan^-1(1)
if we solve this question we would get x = 45
Now coming over to your question by pressing 2nd – tan you are trying to find tan^-1(x) not the 1/tan x, which is your desired answer. So for finding out cosec, sec and cot, first you have to find sin, cos and tan respectively and then you have to use 1/x function given on the scientific calculator.
