Converse of basic proportionality theorem states that if a line divides any two sides of a triangle in the same ratio, then the line must be parallel to the third side. This can be better understood by the following example.
Ex:
In the above figure; line ST divides triangle PQR in two parts ie triangle RST and Quadrilateral PQTS.
Side RP is divided into two parts RS and SP and Line RQ is divided into RT and TQ
Hence, If RS/SP = RT/TQ
=> ST is parallel to PQ.
