rule to change size in geometry , but not location using (x,y)---this
was a problem on my son's homework. It did not relate to anything in
his math book. I assume it has something to do with translation or
dilation.The other questions were about changing size and location;
change location, but not size. Also what is the new rule if (x,y) were
enlarged by a scale factor of 2?Lastly, What is the scale factor in the
following rule (3x divided by 1, 2y-5)? |

Dilation changes the size of the object but location remains same. Scale factor is used to change size Suppose, we need to have 1.5 times size i.e. using scale factor of 1.5, then the image will be 1.5 times as large as the pre-image.
Rotation,Reflection,Translation changes location of the object but size remains same.
If (x,y) were enlarged by a scale factor of 2 then the image gets enlarge by two times of the original one i.e. (2x, 2y)
