English: Hello! I am so lucky today!Today I have to meet with some new students and I feel like talking to them about the Latin American culture.
Spanish: ¡Hola! ¡Hoy tengo mucha suerte! Este día tengo que reunirme con unos nuevos estudiantes y tengo ganas de hablarles sobre la cultura latinoamericana.
English: They are very young. I think they are around eighteen years old. They are going to travel to Latin America for the first time and they are a little afraid.
Spanish: Ellos son muy jóvenes. Creo que tienen unos dieciocho años de edad. Van a viajar a Latinoamérica por primera vez y tienen un poco de miedo.
English: Since they travel in the month of July, I’m going to tell them that if they go to Mexico in that month, they are going to be very hot because it’s summer. But if they go to Buenos Aires, Argentina, they are going to be very cold because it’s winter.
Spanish: Como viajan en el mes de julio, voy a decirles que si van a México en ese mes, van a tener mucho calor porque es verano. Pero si van a Buenos Aires, Argentina, van a tener mucho frío porque es invierno.
English: Usually, if I travel to another country during the summer, I am very thirsty because it’s very hot, and when I travel to a place during the winter, I am very hungry because it’s very cold. That’s why I carry a bottle of water and something to eat in my back pack all the time.
Spanish: Usualmente, si viajo a otro país en el verano, tengo mucha sed porque hace mucho calor, y cuando viajo a un lugar en el invierno, tengo mucha hambre porque hace mucho frío. Por eso tengo una botella de agua y algo para comer en mi mochila todo el tiempo.
English: Are you looking forward to traveling to Latin America?
Spanish: ¿Tienes ganas de viajar a Latinoamérica?
English: Are you a little afraid of traveling?
Spanish: ¿Tienes un poco de miedo de viajar?
English: Are you very cold during the winter?
Spanish: ¿Tienes mucho frío durante el invierno?
English: Are you very hungry and thirsty when you travel during your vacations? I am!
Spanish: ¿Tienes mucha hambre y sed cuando viajas durante tus vacaciones? ¡Yo sí!
English: Very well, now I am in a little hurry since I have to meet with the group of teenagers. But, at this moment, you’re going to learn many idiomatic expressions with the verb “to have” which will help you in your conversation.
Spanish: Muy bien, ahora tengo un poco de prisa ya que tengo que reunirme con el grupo de adolescentes. Pero, en este momento, vas a aprender muchas expresiones idiomáticas con el verbo “tener” que te ayudarán en tu conversación.
