This lesson explains Present Indicative of – AR VERBS.
English: The functional center of the Spanish language is made up of its flexible verbal structure and, as such, the verbs with the most characteristic individual aspect of Spanish grammar. Most of them form the large group that we know as Regular Verbs because they all function in a similar and predictable way. This behavior groups the Spanish verbs into three large families.
In lesson 8 we will see the functioning of all the verbs in the first of these three families: The Spanish verbs that end with the syllable –ar: Hablar, cocinar, trabajar and viajar are only some of the everyday actions that form part of this first group of essential Spanish verbs. The regular nature of these verbs results in the fact that, by only learning the conjugation of one, we can conjugate all. (More text below video...)

Spanish: El centro funcional de la lengua española está constituido por su flexible estructura verbal y, como tal, los verbos son el aspecto individual más característico de la gramática del español. La mayor parte de ellos forma el gran grupo que conocemos como Verbos Regulares porque todos ellos funcionan de manera similar y predecible. Este comportamiento agrupa los verbos españoles en tres grandes familias.
En la lección ocho veremos el funcionamiento de todos los verbos de la primera de estas tres familias: Los verbos españoles que terminan con la sílaba -ar: Hablar, cocinar, trabajar y viajar son sólo algunas de las acciones cotidianas que forman parte de este primer grupo de esenciales verbos del español. La naturaleza regular de estos verbos se traduce en el hecho que, con sólo aprender la conjugación de uno, podemos conjugarlos todos.

Spanish: Hola, hoy tendrás la oportunidad de hablar sobre tu vida diaria.
English: To give you an example of how to talk about your daily activities, I am going to tell you what I do during the week. Pay attention to the verbs!
Spanish: Para darte un ejemplo de cómo hablar acerca de tus actividades diarias, voy a decirte lo que hago durante la semana. Pon atención a los verbos.
English: During the week, I usually work all day. First, I have breakfast at home, then I talk on the phone with my students, and later I walk to my office.
Spanish: Durante la semana, usualmente trabajo todo el día. Primero, desayuno en casa, luego hablo por teléfono con mis estudiantes y más tarde camino a mi oficina.
English: At noon, I have lunch with friends and then teach Spanish. In the evening I have dinner with my family and work on my lessons for the next day.
Spanish: Al mediodía, almuerzo con amigos y luego enseño español. Por la tarde ceno con mi familia y trabajo en mis lecciones para el próximo día.
English: During the weekend I run in Central Park and clean my house. Finally, I listen o music and watch TV!
Spanish: Durante el fin de semana corro en el Parque Central y limpio mi casa. Finalmente, escucho música y miro la tele.
English: How about you?
Spanish: Y tú?
English: Do you work many hours?
Spanish: ¿Trabajas muchas horas?
English: Do you have breakfast every day?
Spanish: ¿Desayunas todos los días?
English: Do you watch TV?
Spanish: ¿Miras la tele?
English: Do you study your Spanish homework?
Spanish: ¿Estudias tu tarea de español?
