(Continued from above) To solve any system of equations, the number of unknowns must be equal to the number of equations available. Explaination is provided with the help of some examples presented with video, in instructor's voice and own handwriting to how to solve the system of equations by: substitution and equating the coefficients in equations.
Substitution is a method where we solve for one variable in terms of other and substitute that value in the other equation. In equating coefficients of equations; the equations are modified such that for one variable, its coefficients in the two equations match up, being either the same or negatives of one another. E.g. the system of equations 3x + 2y = 11 and 2x + 3y = 4, when solved by either of the methods, yields y = -2 and x = 5.
