On my TI-83 Plus, I key in 81.293 degrees. I then key in DMS (conversion) and get 1 degree, 25 min, 7.79 seconds instead of the correct answer 81 17 35. What am I doing wrong with the calc? Thanks.

Steps for converting decimal degrees into DMS(Degree, Minute and Second)
1. First you have to make sure that your calculator is in degree mode, if it is not; then you can change it by first pressing “Mode” and then selecting “Degree” from the options, after that you have to press “2 nd” “Mode” to exit from this.
2. Now you have to write the decimal degree no., which you want to convert (in this case 81.293)
3. After this you have to select “2 nd” “Apps” this will take you to the “Angle” menu, after this you have to press “4” and “enter”. This will give you converted result in the DMS format. In this case the result would be 81 degree 17 minute and 35 seconds.
