Suppose the sides of the triangle are a, b and c. So you have to prove a + b – c < c.
Let's re-write above equation as c > a + b – c...(1)
By triangle inequality theorem, a + b > c
a + b > a + b – c. ...(from (1))
So if a, b, c > 0 , then this must be true.
